Choosing to start therapy is an incredibly meaningful decision, and a true investment in your mental, emotional, and relational well-being. It’s that significant step towards prioritizing yourself and towards receiving care that’s tailored to your unique needs. My aim is to provide you just that as a private pay therapist.

Why Work with a Private-Pay Therapist?

There are a few reasons I do not accept insurance. Here are a few:

1. Equity & Agency in Your Care

First and foremost, I do not believe in perpetuating a restrictive system that promotes inequity. Instead, I believe in supporting greater agency, where your treatment is not dictated by insurance. I believe in health care equity and protecting marginalized communities and identities. I want to avoid potential long-term impacts on your insurance premiums, career opportunities, or future aspirations.

When using insurance (including utilizing out-of-network benefits), your diagnosis, treatment plans, and session notes may be reviewed by a third party. As a private pay therapist, your information stays between you and me—no labels, no external requirements, and no paperwork dictating the pace or focus of your care.

To use insurance (including utilizing out-of-network benefits), therapists are typically required to assign a mental health diagnosis, even if you’re simply navigating a life transition or seeking support for personal growth. As a private pay therapist, I can focus on you and your goals, without pathologizing your experiences.

Insurance companies often limit the number of sessions or require certain evidence-based approaches. Working privately allows us to collaborate on a plan that truly fits your needs, whether that’s short-term support or ongoing care.

Without insurance constraints, I can take the time to build a strong, trusting relationship with you and adjust the work as your needs evolve.

What You’re Investing In

Therapy is an investment in clarity, healing, resilience, and growth. It’s a space just for you for:

You’re not just investing in sessions—you’re investing in a better relationship with yourself.
